Making Time is a social enterprise that radically improves the day to day life of older people in care homes through greater access to the arts.

Making Time provides dynamic arts education to all levels of health professionals who deliver care to older people. Our tailored courses equip care giving staff with the skills and materials to lead practical art sessions for older residents and introduce them to the work of artists who have addressed the experience of ageing in their work.

Making Time was a proud winner of the Beyond Business and Investec social enterprise scheme, which awards initial investment and ongoing mentorship. It was co-founded by curator Niamh White and artist Tim A Shaw.

Niamh and Tim have already established themselves as leaders in the field of art and health through their charity Hospital Rooms, which transforms locked and secure mental health units with museum quality art. The charity was established after their close friend was sectioned and the environment she stayed in was cold, clinical and not conducive to recovery.

Hospital Rooms has attracted wide spread support from an esteemed network of artists (Nick Knight, Anish Kapoor, Assemble) and companies (Colart, Metro Imaging, Royal Opera House), and has been featured in the international press (BBC, the Guardian, the Telegraph and many more). We have seen first hand the impact that artistic and creative activity can have in the health sphere.
